Jerry Lord has been practicing criminal law since 1988.  He served as a prosecutor in the York County District Attorney’s office between 1988 and 1992.  Over the four years of service as an assistant district attorney for the York County District Attorney’s office Jerry prosecuted numerous criminal cases  and traffic citations – including (homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence; homicide by vehicle; D.U.I.; driving under suspension; summary conviction appeals from speeding, reckless driving, careless driving, stop sign infractions and other numerous moving violations), and various juvenile offenses, including underage drinking, driving under the influence and drug possession and drug delivery.

The federal and state laws have become increasingly more complex.  In response to these increasing complexities Jerry's legal services now focus heavily on the following areas:  (1) criminal charges and traffic citations filed under the Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle Code [hereinafter also referred to as  Title 75]; (2) criminal charges filed under other federal or state laws, but which are directly affected by Title 75; and (3) collateral consequences of convictions under Title 75, or affected by Title 75, including driver’s license suspensions / revocations, professional license sanctions, and disqualifications of commercial driver's licenses.  For a discussion of the representation that Jerry provides in regard to the above mentioned areas, the reader of this profile should go to the criminal practice area of our website and locate the sub-categories upon which Jerry focuses his concentration.

Jerry went into private practice in 1992 and joined MPL Law Firm in 1995.  Since 1998 Jerry’s legal practice has been devoted almost exclusively to criminal law and traffic law.

Over the course of his career, Jerry has tried over 300 cases before judges or juries in Lancaster, Pennsylvania; York, Pennsylvania; Gettysburg, Pennsylvania and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Jerry is admitted to practice before all Pennsylvania state courts; the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania; the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania; the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit; and the United States Supreme Court. Jerry has lectured at continuing legal education seminars for fellow attorneys on various topics, including driving under the influence, driver’s license problems, the effect of the sentencing guidelines in Pennsylvania and Federal courts, preparation for trials in front of juries, and post conviction relief act remedies for persons and corporations.

As an assistant district attorney Jerry lectured on the subject of driving under the influence on behalf of the Pennsylvania District Attorney’s Association.

Jerry’s mission is to provide his clients with all the information the clients need to make fully informed decisions about what to do in their particular cases.  it is extremely important that the clients be aware of all of the direct and collateral consequences that may come out of charges filed directly under Title 75 or charges filed under other federal or state laws that may be impacted by Title 75.  By making all this vital information available to the clients, the clients can then make informed decisiona about what to do with their cases.  Jerry will use his knowledge, experience and skills to represent his clients from the beginning until the end.
